Bible verse (and commentary) for the day...

Most christians are familiar with this verse...

Come now, and let us reason together, says Jehovah; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.
(Isa 1:18)

But that's not my verse for today, it's actually right before that:

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
(Isa 1:16-17)

Did you catch that?

I will give my paraphrase:

Get forgiveness for your sins, then stop doing evil. But not only that, learn to do the right thing too- here are some examples- seek justice for others, right the things that are wrong and help those who have been oppressed. Act as an advocate for orphans and plead the case of widows.
